City Council
The City of Bangor has a council-manager form of government, with a seven member City Council (counting the mayor) elected at-large. The mayor is elected by the people, and the mayor pro tem is appointed by the City Council from among their members. Together they appoint the City Manager.
The mayor is an ex officio member of the Downtown Development Authority Board and Planning Commission.
The City Council regularly meets the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 PM Eastern Time in the Council Room at City Hall, 257 West Monroe Street, Bangor, MI 49013. When Monday falls on a legal holiday meetings are moved to the next day. It is important to check the Calendar to confirm meeting dates, times, and details.
Members of the public are welcome to speak to the Council on any issue during regular meetings. Please note that a time limit is enforced.
All meetings are open to the public and are accessible. Persons requiring auxiliary aids and services or other accommodations should contact the city clerk’s office, 269.427.5831.
